Ingredients

  • For the Salmon Mummies

  • 4 Wild Alaska salmon fillets, thawed (about 4 to 6 ounces each)
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 ounces herb cream cheese
  • For Decoration

  • Edible candy eyes
  • Ketchup, for serving (or other dipping sauce)

Preparation

  1. Step 1 Prep the Salmon and Pastry

    1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    2. If needed, trim the salmon fillets into long, mummy-shaped pieces of similar size.
    3. Roll out the puff pastry and spread evenly with the herb cream cheese.
    4. Cut the pastry into thin strips.
  2. Step 2 Wrap and Bake the Mummies

    1. Wrap the salmon pieces with the pastry strips, leaving a small opening at one end for the mummy’s face.
    2. Place the wrapped salmon mummies on the prepared baking sheet.
    3. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown and the salmon is cooked through.
  3. Step 3 Dress & Serve the Mummies

    1. Let the wrapped mummies cool for 2 to 3 minutes.
    2. Place edible candy eyes in the uncovered facial area of each mummy.
    3. Serve warm with ketchup (or sauce of your choice) for dipping.
  4. Step 4 Tips

    • Leave small gaps between pastry strips to create a more realistic mummy look.
    • Everything bagel seasoning or dried herbs can be sprinkled on the pastry before baking for extra flavor.
    • Serve with additional dipping sauces such as ranch dressing, honey mustard, or garlic aioli.
