Annual salmon forecast bulletins and in-season weekly Alaska salmon harvest updates are produced for ASMI by the McKinley Research Group. Weekly updates for the 2025 season began on June 17.

The 2025 Alaska salmon harvest season began on May 22nd with the opening of the Copper River sockeye and Chinook fishery. Following historically low harvests in 2024, statewide 2025 forecasts call for increased harvest of sockeye, pink, coho, and keta salmon. Chinook harvests are expected to decline by about 37% from 2024.
While global forecasts are not available for all species, forecasts point to increased global harvests of sockeye and pink salmon, primarily due to larger forecasts in Alaska and Russia.
