Baltics International Trade Mission 2026
- This event has passed.
ASMI looks forward to hosting a productive trade mission to the Baltics (Latvia and Lithuania), April 11-19, 2026. The Baltic States, Lithuania and Latvia, are strategically significant to the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute due to their growing demand for high-quality wild seafood, strong fish processing infrastructure, and key roles in regional seafood distribution.
Lithuania is the top importer of Alaska seafood in the EEU region, receiving 18,150 mt in 2024 worth $79.5 million. With the Klaipeda port serving as a central logistics hub, Lithuania imports Alaska species like pollock mince and surimi and wild Alaska salmon for reprocessing and re-export across the EU. The country’s seafood sector, anchored by 85 processors and major players like Viciunai and Norvelita, offers significant potential for pollock, salmon, and roe products.
Latvia, while smaller in import volumes, has a well-established fish processing sector with 96 facilities. It is a growing player in surimi, roe, and value-added (canned, smokes) Alaska seafood products, much of which is sourced via Lithuania. Companies like Portlite and Karavela are expanding their reach in the EU, while HRI distributors like Reaton drive demand for premium Alaska items. Latvia also serves as a re-export center to other markets such as Ukraine, Estonia, and Central Asia.
These markets not only demonstrate high usage of Alaska seafood in processing and export but also present expanding opportunities for ASMI to build long-term trade partnerships and strengthen brand recognition.
