ASMI Connects with Harvesters and Industry Members at ComFish 2025 2

The Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI) was proud to participate in ComFish 2025—Alaska’s longest-running and largest commercial fisheries trade show—held April 15-17 in Kodiak. The three-day event brought together industry stakeholders from across the state for networking, forums, and exhibits focused on the future of Alaska’s fisheries.

Fishermen Town Hall: In-Person Connections Make an Impact

ASMI hosted a town hall-style gathering following the first day of the show, welcoming nearly 50 fishermen, harvesters, and industry professionals to Double Shovel Cider Co. The event offered attendees a chance to connect directly with ASMI staff, ask questions, and access valuable resources.

Greg Smith, ASMI Communications Director, presented an update on the current seafood market landscape, ASMI’s promotional efforts, and tools available to support Alaska harvesters. The event concluded with a lively Q&A session, offering attendees a platform to voice their priorities and learn more about ASMI’s work.

These in-person connections are vital to ASMI’s mission, and the opportunity to engage directly with members of the fleet made the evening a resounding success.

Engagement at the ASMI Booth

Throughout the three-day event, ASMI staff were on hand at the ASMI booth to answer questions, share promotional materials, and provide helpful resources to attendees. A special thank you to ASMI International Marketing Committee member Jeff Stephan for his support and help in making the booth experience successful.

Forum Presentation: Market Trends and Global Opportunities

During the forum sessions, Smith and Sam Friedman of McKinley Research Group provided attendees with an international marketing update. Their joint presentation explored how Alaska’s seafood is reaching global markets, the external factors influencing demand, and the strategies ASMI is deploying to increase the value of the Alaska seafood resource.
