Indonesia Trade Mission 2025
ASMI looks forward to hosting a productive trade mission to Indonesia, February 23 – 28, 2025. Indonesia is an emerging market with great potential for Alaska seafood exports to Southeast Asia.
In FY 2022, Indonesia replaced Malaysia as the third largest market in volume, with Malaysia falling to fourth. Indonesia was the fastest growing market in volume, at 273%, followed by Singapore at 76%, and the Philippines at 53%. Alaska seafood exports to Indonesia totaled 2,572 MT with a value of US $9.0 million.
Although smaller and less sophisticated than Thailand, or the Vietnam industry, Indonesia is attracting greater investment in seafood processing and re-export due to rising labor and operating costs in China and Thailand. The U.S. – China trade disputes and increasing regulations in China have also favored the movement of seafood processing to different areas in Southeast Asia.
