ASMI looks forward to hosting a productive trade mission to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Nha Trang, Vietnam, February 27 – March 4, 2023. Vietnam was the second largest market for Alaska seafood exports to Southeast Asia in FY 2020, with shipments accounting for 18% of Alaska exports to Southeast Asia on a volume basis. Although smaller and less sophisticated than Thailand’s industry, Vietnam is attracting greater investment in seafood processing and re-export due to rising labor and operating costs in China and Thailand. The U.S. – China trade disputes and increasing regulations in China have also favored the movement of seafood processing to Vietnam.
