ASMI Japan will conduct a tie-up promotion with Seibu Department store in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, and Seibu Community College. The first activity is to hold cooking lessons at the community college. ASMI Japan will send three celebrity presenters/teachers – Okazu Seinentai, who visited Alaska last year – to Seibu Community College to teach the cooking lessons about Alaska seafood, which are open to the public. The celebrity teachers will also go to the fish department of Seibu Department Store to promote Alaska seafood to shoppers. The proposed teachers and dates are as follows:
July 18 (13:00 to 15:00) Naoyuki Yanagihara
Will use snow crab, black cod, and smoked sockeye salmon for his recipes
July 31st (13:00 to 15:00) Ryuta Kijma
Will use sockeye salmon and snow crab for his recipes
August 21st (13:00 to 15:00) Kentaro Chin
Will use Pacific cod, snow crab, and smocked sockeye salmon for his recipes
There is a cooking station in the basement of Seibu Department Store in the fresh market area, and the teachers will conduct a sampling demonstration from 15:30 to 16:30. This is a mixed activity which combines cooking school and sales promotions. In addition, Seibu Department Store is focusing on sustainability as part of its CSR efforts, and therefore Alaska Seafood’s sustainability will be promoted through Seibu’s media.
