The Shelby Report featured an article titled "Marketing to 'La Bamba' Boomers No Longer Optional" in its November 2005 issue. The article notes, "The Hispanic community is growing at three times the rate of the rest of the population." In addition, the article likens the Hispanic market's growth potential to that of the "baby boomers" of the 1950s and 1960s. The article offers grocers and food marketers the following advice: "Those brand manufacturers who aren't yet up to speed in reaching and cultivating Hispanic patrons better think about moving into the left-hand lane, and for those who have, enjoy the ride."
