Fitness
The June 2006 issue of Fitness magazine highlights wild salmon as one of the "Top 10 Best Foods for Flat Abs."
Fitness suggests two four-ounce servings of salmon a week to take advantage of the omega-3s found in fatty fish, which, "May help promote fat burning by making your metabolism more efficient." Fitness helps readers to discriminate in their purchase. Moyer insists, "Wild Salmon, though pricy, contains more omega-3 fatty acids than farm-raised." The article goes on to caution, "If it doesn't say wild, it's farm raised."
Fitness magazine targets active, motivated women and reaches a circulation of 1.5 million.
Clarksville Leaf Chronicle
Clarksville, Tennessee's daily newspaper, The Leaf Chronicle, promoted wild salmon on May 22nd, in a weekly column titled, "At the Table," by caterer and TV host Diane Welker. The article, "Wild Salmon's Robust Flavors Jump Out," provides instructions on grilling and planking salmon, offers two recipes, Asian Salmon Fillets and Pan-Poached Salmon, and makes the author's preference for wild known. Welker writes, "Wild salmon feed on natural resources, and swim against the cold currents of the North Pacific, which gives them a firmer texture and richer flavor."
Welker extends her column to educate readers about Alaska Salmon stating, "Salmon from Alaska's cold clear waters ranks among the word's finest seafood. There, the five species of natural, wild Alaska Salmon are king, sockeye, coho, chum and pink. Superior in taste and texture, [they are] loaded with omega-3 fatty acids, which are good for your head and your heart."
