Alaska Seafood Consumer Advertising Campaign Extends through Summer
This summer, the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI) is advertising to consumers, the same consumers who visit your supermarkets. The overall theme communicates the benefits of Wild, Abundant Alaska Seafood and encourages consumers to "Ask for Alaska" at their favorite restaurant or supermarket.

The media program extends through the summer with print ads in Bon Appetit, Cooking Light, Sunset and the Alaska Airlines magazine. Click here to see our summer consumer ads.

In the fall, ASMI will be running a mix of consumer advertising for salmon, cod, pollock and shellfish, all encouraging consumers to "Ask for Alaska".

Alaska Surimi Seafood... Genuinely the Best!
ASMI launched a new consumer magazine campaign to increase usage and to create consumer awareness of and preference for Alaska Pollock Surimi Seafood.

The national consumer print campaign will run in the July and August issues of Cooking Light and Sunset (circulation: 6 million readers). The ad is a two-sided, heavy paper-stock recipe page, featuring new Surimi recipes, which are perforated so they can be easily removed from the magazine. There are 3 beautiful pictures on the front side with corresponding delicious recipes on the back: Alaska Surimi Seafood "California Roll" Lettuce Cups, Alaska Surimi Seafood Cobb Salad and Deviled Alaska Surimi Seafood Salad Sandwiches.

In addition, a full-page feature editorial showcasing the versatility and health aspects of Surimi Seafood was released. Entitled Imitation Is the Sincerest Form of Flattery, this national full-page, four-color recipe release is currently being used by print and online editors on the front page of their food and lifestyle sections. It is also being read by millions of shoppers every week. This eye-catching release extols the benefits of surimi seafood made with genuine Alaska pollock and features three recipes: Alaska Surimi Seafood Salad, Southwestern Surimi Wrap and three delicious dipping sauces. Click here to see the national recipe release.

The campaign is also supported by a micro-website with a link to it featured on ASMI's homepage. The website includes more amazing recipes, information about the product including nutritional information, and a segment devoted to Alaska. To check out the new micro-site click here.

Development of Retail Surimi POS materials is now complete and available through ASMI. The Surimi recipe leaflet features nine Alaska Surimi seafood recipes and information about Surimi; the leaflet is sized to easily fit in 3" x 5" horizontal leaflet holders. Surimi on-pack labels featuring two recipes are also available.

San Francisco Chronicle
"Northern Exposure with Local Wild Salmon Scarce, Alaskan Varieties are Swimming into the Markets. The Trick is Knowing How to Cook Them."
On June 8, 2005 the San Francisco Chronicle featured the following article: "Northern Exposure with Local Wild Salmon Scarce, Alaskan Varieties are Swimming into the Markets. The Trick is Knowing How to Cook Them." In response to regulations prohibiting the landing of California Pacific salmon from the usual fishing grounds for the month of June, the San Francisco Chronicle recommends another way to get beneficial omega-3 fatty acids, Alaska Salmon. The article states "Alaska may well have the most well-managed fisheries of all sea-bound states, one that was put in place to protect the livelihoods of traditional, subsistence fisher families of that state. As a result, the salmon from the relatively clean waters are protected, healthful and tasty."
