The average per capita seafood consumption of Latin Americans is 28.16 pounds. This is significantly
higher than the total U.S. per capita seafood consumption, which according to the National Marine
Fisheries Service is 16.6 pounds.
The US will have the world's second largest Hispanic population by 2025.
According to the 2005 Annual Report on the US seafood industry, the Hispanic-American consumer
group spends well above the national average of $124 in at-home consumer seafood expenditures,
averaging $158 as an ethnic group.
