Alaska Salmon Training Program: "Wild Style"
The Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute offers an interactive learning CD-ROM "Wild Style". The 20-minute CD offers web-based training where chefs and waitstaff will 1) learn how and why every Alaska Salmon is caught in the wild - never farmed; 2) hear why John Ash and other renowned chefs champion sustainable resources - such as wild Alaska Salmon; 3) discover the key traits and cooking characteristics of the five species of wild Alaska Salmon. Everyone who completes the training and online quiz will earn five continuing education hours from the American Culinary Federation.

Consumer Advertising Update
The Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI) continues to encourage consumers to "Ask for Alaska" at your restaurants via a consumer advertising campaign. We've shown you the summer Alaska Salmon and Surimi Seafood ads; now we want to share with you what is coming this fall.

A two-page Alaska Salmon Sticker insert can be found in Bon Appétit, Sunset and Cooking Light.

An Alaska Seafood bookmark insert will be included in the Alaska Airlines in-flight magazine.

Look for an Alaska Cod & Pollock advertisement in Cooking Light, Sunset and Southern Living.

An ad and advertorial encouraging consumers to ask for Alaska King Crab will be featured
in Bon Appétit.

Foodservice Advertising Update
This fall ASMI will encourage chefs and restaurants to offer their customers succulent wild Alaska Black Cod. Look for our ad in the September, October, and November issues of Food Arts and the October and November issues of Nations Restaurant News (NRN).
Additionally, this fall in NRN and Food Management, ASMI will encourage national chain foodservice operators, colleges & universities, business & industry, and healthcare providers to offer their customers wild Alaska Cod and Pollock. ASMI will be educating foodservice operators about recent research that tells us 77% of consumers prefer wild fish/seafood over farmed when given a choice*.
