According to a recent Swedish study, eating fish at least once a week can lead to a higher IQ score. Published in the March issue of
Acta Paediatrica, a study of 3,972 fifteen-year-old boys found that those who ate fish once a week saw an average increase of six percent in their verbal and visuospatial intelligence scores. Those who consumed fish more than once a week saw their scores increase by almost 11 percent.

One of the researchers stated, "We found a clear link between frequent fish consumption and higher scores when the teenagers ate fish at least once a week... When they ate fish more than once a week, the improvement almost doubled."

More data from the study concluded that participants who ate fish more than once a week had 12 percent higher combined intelligence scores and nine percent higher verbal intelligence scores than those who ate fish less than once a week. Of the 3,972 participants in the study, 58 percent ate fish at least once a week and an additional 20 percent ate fish more than once a week.
