The U.S. Foodservice Industry grew 5.4% in 2004, a full percentage point higher than last September’s forecast. Citing better-than-expected performance among full-and limited-service restaurants, Technomic, Inc., noted that bars and restaurants exceeded their healthiest performance since 1993.
"Traffic growth, new units and menu price increases all contributed to the positive performance" in the restaurant industry, according to Joe Pawlak, vice president at Technomic.
And the industry will remain strong. Based on signs of more steady growth, the 2005 forecast show a projected growth rate of over 6%.
