Gastronomy, Inc. Runs Wild Alaska Halibut Promotion
(Continued)

Mary Anne Farrier, Director of Marketing for Gastronomy, stated that the company has run this promotion seasonally for roughly 15 years. According to Farrier, Gastronomy, Inc. reissued the promotion due to the popularity of halibut in Utah and the high caliber of the Alaska product. "Halibut is so popular in Utah, for over 15 years it has been a major seller and meets the palate of Utah's taste buds. We have always gone with Alaska Halibut because we only use seafood of the highest quality and we feel that Wild Alaska Halibut is the highest quality."

Gastronomy offers fresh Alaska Halibut for breakfast, lunch and dinner between four different Salt Lake City locations. Farrier states that although many restaurants keep to a more traditional breakfast menu, halibut does well at all three meals. "Seafood meets the 'power breakfast' quotient. The Wild Alaska Halibut Eggs Benedict is a customer favorite. We serve it because our customers enjoy it. We've kept it on the menu because it has done so well."

Farrier is enthusiastic about the promotion because advertising Wild Alaska Halibut benefits both the restaurant and the product. "Any time we feature seafood, especially one found so palatable, everyone wins. In this information age, people want to know what they are eating and where it came from. As people are more familiar with products, by name, even if they've never had it, they are more interested in trying the product. That is the plus to the promotion."

Farrier states that her favorite thing about working with Alaska Seafood is the quality of the goods and the information available. "The product is top quality. We are all about quality in what we do. The information ASMI provide is cutting edge, no one can touch what they're doing. Their facts are readily available and the research they've provided is excellent. They are the experts in the field."

Gastronomy issues an e-newsletter for the restaurant's patrons. This e-newsletter features information about the Alaska promotion as well as locations where patrons can purchase fresh Wild Alaska Halibut, recipes and tips to help them prepare the delicacy from home, and advice on how to pair halibut with wine. The Gastronomy, Inc., Alaska promotion will run through April.
