The Simplicity & Healthfulness of Alaska
Canned Salmon for Foodservice Operators
**********************************
Wild Alaska Canned and Pouched Salmon is a quick and easy way to create
colorful seafood salads, soups, sandwiches and entrees. With a little
imagination and minimal preparation, Alaska Salmon can bring a flavorful,
new twist to an operation's menu. Its year-round availability, convenience
and healthy nutritional profile also make canned and pouched salmon
an economical way to add salmon to the menu.
Alaska Canned and Pouched Salmon is high in Omega-3 fatty acids and
contains all the essential amino acids, including Vitamin A as well
as niacin and riboflavin from the B-complex group. Canned salmon also
offers four times the omega-3 fatty acids and 20 times the calcium of
canned tuna, turkey and chicken. (Source: Release #13 USDA)
Packed from fresh Alaska Salmon, Alaska Canned and Pouched Salmon is
prized as the highest quality salmon in the world for its rich color,
distinctive flavor and range of textures. The Alaska processing industry
stands apart when it comes to quality control. Alaska Canned & Pouched
Salmon undergoes strict processing standards, including USDC inspections,
before it is sent to market -- first, when it arrives at the dock, then,
after it's been graded, sorted and cleaned, and finally, after it's
been canned and/or pouched.
Alaska Canned Salmon is available year-round and is sold in 14.75-oz
and 64-oz. cans to the foodservice industry. Alaska Salmon is also available
year round in state-of-the-art, shelf-stable foil packages. The 64-oz.
or 7.1-ounce retort pouches are easy to store, handle and take up less
space than cans. They simply tear open at the top and they are easily
disposed of by folding flat. Unopened, the shelf-stable pouch retains
freshness and flavor without refrigeration for up to five years. Alaska
Salmon in pouches is fully cooked, skinless, boneless, and ready to
serve in any recipe that calls for canned salmon.
