The Alaska Salmon Price Report (ASPR) is published by four-month period, January–April, May–August and September–December. Annual Salmon Production Report

Alaska Department of Revenue released its 2006 Annual Alaska Salmon Production Report in March. The annual report data is within the parameters of the Alaska Salmon Price Report (ASPR). The reporting threshold is one million pounds and the data includes only the six product forms specified in the ASPR. READ MORE


Pace of Landings, Halibut and Sablefish

Through June 1, the pace of landings in the halibut IFQ fishery is down from the previous three years’ average. The proportion of TAC landed shows a minor change in percentage terms (33 percent landed as of June 1, 2007 compared to the 2004 – 2006 average of 37 percent). However, that percentage decline coupled with the reduced halibut TAC translates to a more substantial reduction in halibut poundage available to the marketplace. READ MORE


Alaska Seafood Exports: Changing Market Destinations

The value of Alaska seafood exports has been growing steadily in recent years, from $1.5 billion in 2000 to nearly $2.5 billion in 2006. Japan remains the single largest export market for Alaska seafood, but retains that distinction by an increasingly narrow margin as the value of Alaska seafood exports to other markets continues growing. Emerging Markets in Eastern Europe

European Union countries are the second-largest export destination for Alaska seafood, receiving $580 million of Alaska seafood in 2006. While Eastern European countries received only about $50 million in Alaska seafood exports in 2006, the region has potential to develop into a more significant export destination for Alaska seafood.
