2006 Salmon Price-Tracking Program

The 2006 salmon ex-vessel price tracking program was launched in the first week of June. The price-tracking program is essentially an informal telephone survey of salmon prices in open fisheries throughout the state, conducted every two weeks. We have been conducting this portion of the SMIS program since 1999.

Salmon prices can and do vary for many reasons. The intention of the price-tracking program is to state the approximate range of prices paid for the bulk of the harvest in each area. The program is not intended to provide a weighted average price for salmon, as that information is provided by the ADF&G “bluesheet” data.

Subscribers to the Seafood Market Bulletin receive email notification when the price-tracking report is posted on the ASMI website, using the same distribution system as is used for the Seafood Market Bulletin. A link to the post page is below.

Please note that the first issue of the 2006 price-tracking program covered the week of June 5. Harvest and purchasing activity in the first week of June is limited. Subsequent price reports will have more complete information. We will be conducting our next price-tracking survey during the week of June 19 and expect to publish results at the end of that week.

We have found the ADF&G inseason salmon summary very useful. A link to the summary is below.
