Roe Handling Placards in English and Tagalog
Because of the important food safety concerns with salmon roe products,
ASMI sponsored special roe handling workshops this season. The workshops,
made possible by a grant from the USDA, covered basic microbial topics,
with emphasis on some potentially very serious bacteria including E.
coli, and Listeria. Because roe products are a "ready-to-eat" food,
careful steps must be taken to ensure the product does not become contaminated.
These workshops were targeted at roe room workers and emphasized basic
sanitation practices, which can help to prevent product contamination.
Special "Reminder" placards highlighting sanitation practices were created
in English and Tagalog. The placards are laminated in plastic and are
suitable for hanging in the roe room or other locations in the plant.
Placards can be obtained free from ASMI by visiting our online catalog.
Free in small quantities. Protecting the high value of roe products
in the marketplace includes taking extra care to ensure our products
are absolutely safe and high quality.
