“Celebrate Valentine’s Day With Wild And Sustainable Alaska Seafood”
ASMI Invites You To Cook For Your Heart, And Your Sweetheart, this Valentine’s Day

Juneau, Alaska. January 18, 2007. The Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI) invites you to celebrate this Valentine’s Day with wild Alaska seafood. Whether treating your valentine to a night out, or a home-cooked meal, premium Alaska seafood is the perfect centerpiece for a romantic and memorable occasion.

Wild Alaska shellfish, whitefish and salmon varieties afford endless preparation opportunities. Indulge with dishes such as Alaska Cod with Local Green Beans and Soy Sherry Sauce by Chef Eric Ripert of New York City restaurant, Le Bernardin or prepare a romantically interactive meal like Steamed Alaska Crab and crack it for your sweetie to earn extra points.

February is also American Heart Month. What better way to incorporate the Food & Drug Administration’s (FDA) recommendation to eat seafood twice weekly than with wild Alaska seafood. Alaska seafood varieties are not only an excellent source of long-chain omega-3s, but are also a remarkably pure and a delicious way to get your weekly allowance of two seafood meals per week. Indeed, Alaska seafood touches the heart in more ways than one.

Alaska’s seafood industry is fueled by a passion for Alaska and the bountiful harvest it provides. As anyone who tastes wild Alaska seafood will attest, the reward for the Alaska fishing industry’s extraordinary effort is a treasure without equal: wild, natural and sustainable Alaska seafood. So, this Valentine’s Day, the month of February, or any day, enjoy, impress and add the passion of Alaska to your table with wild Alaska seafood.

Alaska is the pioneer of sustainability. Since acceptance into the Union in 1959, Alaska’s Constitution has mandated that “fish…be utilized, developed and maintained on the sustained yield principle.” This long-term dedication to sustainability has resulted in keeping the world stocked with a continuous, ever- replenishing supply of wild seafood. Alaska's effective and precise fisheries management practices are considered a model for the world.

The Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute is the State of Alaska’s official seafood marketing arm.  It is a public agency of the State of Alaska, funded by the Alaska seafood industry with support from state and federal funds.  ASMI promotes Alaska seafood throughout the U.S. and in 16 other countries.  ASMI also provides education and training to the seafood industry in food safety and quality assurance practices.  Please go to www.alaskaseafood.org for more information.
